Wish List

This is a list of items that Exodus Farms is currently in need of or uses regularly to maintain our farm and program horses.  If you have an item you would like to donate, please email us at exodusfarms@gmail.com or contact Ginger Salido at 530-953-7178.

  • One roll (100 ft) of 6′ “no climb” fencing – This will help us make needed repairs to Callie and Lilly’s “pony pen” fence (our favorite little black pony does love to push for grass… 😉 ).
  • Road base – Over the years, donations of road base have helped us immensely in directing heavy rainwater away from our barns and parking areas! This year, we are extending our driveway all the way through our property as a much needed fire exit. This is one of the final steps in completing the property improvements needed to secure our use permit. We need several more truckloads of roadbase donated in order to begin our “highway of hope” construction!
  • NEW riding helmets: Tipperary 8500 Sportage Helmets (all sizes; black preferred)  – We have found these to be the best at both fitting and protecting our young riders’ heads! All sizes needed, but especially Small and Extra Small. Black color preferred as it is better for taking photos of the kids! Unfortunately we cannot accept donations of used helmets for insurance purposes.
  • A load of DG/sand for our round pen
  • FLY SPRAY AND SWAT (clear and pink) – We go through a LOT of this in the summer months to keep our horses comfortable! ❤️❤️❤️
  • Hula hoops! – The sturdier, the better! For the kiddos and horses to play with during sessions.
  • Jolly Balls – 3 small, 3 large – for the kiddos and horses to play with during sessions.
  • 4 squeegees with handles – for squeegeeing water off wet horses!
  • Oster mane and tail hair brushes
  • Rubber curry combs
  • Rubber stall mats – These make it MUCH easier to keep our stalls clean and dry, and help us conserve shavings! We currently have full sets of mats in three of the stalls in our chateau barn, and they have cut the cleaning time for those stalls in HALF, as well as keeping them MUCH drier in the winter months! We would LOVE to be able to put full sets of mats in ALL of our stalls to help our older horses who come inside during the winter!
  • Pressure Washer – For cleaning our winter blankets, saddle pads, girths, etc.!
  • Heavy duty plastic (not metal) wheelbarrows (Rubbermaid makes the best durable ones for getting through the mud!) – As you can imagine, we use wheelbarrows daily for all sorts of chores – cleaning stalls and pastures, raking up and collecting loose hay, delivering shavings, picking up downed branches and sticks, etc. We are often in need of good condition, heavy duty wheelbarrows to replace ones that have cracked or worn out from heavy use!
  • Beet Pulp (shredded or pelleted) – Most of our program horses receive a feeding of soaked beet pulp every day.  A donated bag makes a big difference!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (gallon-sized or larger) – Almost all of our program horses receive 1/2 cup to 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in their grain daily to combat arthritis. We go through 3-4 gallons per week, so an extra gallon is always an appreciated donation!
  • Carrots/Horse Treats – Many of our parents and younger siblings enjoy walking the property, simply visiting with the horses and feeding them carrots or treats. Our program horses also love to receive a treat from their rider as a reward for a job well done at the end of a session!
  • Snacks for the kids (no nuts, please, to avoid allergies!) – Our kids look forward to “snack time” at the end of each riding session, and with 90-110 kids attending each week, we go through a lot of snacks! 🙂
  • Wintec (or other synthetic) adult and youth saddles As our program grows, we need to make sure we have enough saddles to fit both horse and rider properly. We try to use lightweight synthetic saddles on all of our horses because they are easier for the kids to lift, so they can learn to saddle their own horse when they want to, and because they are very light and easy on the horses’ backs!
  • 5 or 6 inch PVC pipe (10 foot lengths)
  • Twelve-foot pipe panel green gates, and panels
  • Flat cotton lunge lines (25-35 feet long) – Many of our Exodus kiddos learn how to trot and canter on the lunge line first! We also use lunge lines to exercise and work on balance for some of our younger or newer program horses while they are in rehab or retraining. As lunge lines wear out over time, we are often in need of new flat cotton lunge lines (nylon is hard on the hands) with durable clips.

RECENT DONATIONS (THANK YOU!!! 🙂 ):

  • THANK YOU, REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION!!! DONE! A generous grant from the Redding Rancheria Commmunity Foundation provided the following supplies for our new parents’ class:
  • LED flood lights for the arena – DONE! THANK YOU!!! The new flood lights enable us to run late evening sessions to avoid the summer heat – parents, kids, and horses are very thankful!!!
  • Arena sand- Outdoor arena and round pen DONE! THANK YOU!!! A very generous grant allowed us to put new, wonderful, deep sand footing in our outdoor arena and round pen!
  • Large equine soccer ball – DONE! THANK YOU!!! The kids, horses, and even the minis LOVE the new giant soccer ball! It’s an absolute joy to watch our littlest mini, Flash, push the ball back and forth with a group of laughing kids. 🙂
  • THANK YOU REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND!!! A recent grant allowed us to purchase a large riding lawnmower! – Keeping the property mowed and creating plenty of defensible space during fire season is a BIG job! Our medium-sized riding lawnmower is a bit small for the job, has worked hard for many years, and is almost ready to retire. We would love love love to “upgrade” to a larger size to enable us to mow our 14 acres efficiently!
  • THANK YOU, REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND for a generous grant that allowed us to purchase SIX new synthetic Western saddles for our program horses!
  • Horse shelters – A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE MCCONNELL FOUNDATION for a grant that allowed us to purchase and construct horse shelters for ALL of our unsheltered pastures!!!! Our horses LOVE the shade, wind, and rain protection!
  • Generator – THANK YOU, MCCONNELL FOUNDATION for a grant that allowed us to purchase and professionally install a new GENERATOR to run our electric fences and well pump during power outages! This is HUGE for our program and the safety of our horses during rolling fire safety blackouts in the summer, and also during events like Snowmaggeddon, when power is out for extended times.
  • Feeders and Water Tanks – THANK YOU REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND! – A recent grant allowed us to purchase 21 new feeders (to keep horses from ingesting sand, which is bad for their health) and 6 large heavy-duty water tanks (to cut down on algae growth and tank breakage) for our pastures! The horses are VERY grateful, and so are we!
  • Fly masks – DONE for Summer 2023!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, EVERYONE! Fly masks are a continual need in the hot summer months to protect our horses’ eyes from sun and bugs! This is an ongoing need every summer, as horses tend to wear theirs out! 🙂
