Wish List

This is a list of items that Exodus Farms is currently in need of or uses regularly to run our kids’ program and maintain our program horses and farm.
If you have an item you would like to donate, please email us at exodusfarms@gmail.com or contact our Founder, Ginger, at 530-953-7178.

URGENTLY NEEDED:
NEW Riding Helmets
Tipperary 8500 Sportage Helmets (all sizes; black preferred)

We have found these to be the best at both fitting and protecting our young riders’ heads! Unfortunately we cannot accept donations of used helmets for safety reasons.

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Individually Wrapped Snacks

(NO NUTS please,
for allergies!)

Examples: fruit snacks, Goldfish, etc. Our kids look forward to “snack time” at the end of each riding session, and with 90-110 kids attending each week, we go through a lot of snacks! 🙂

FOR SESSIONS:
Safe, Sturdy Toys
(for the kids/horses to play with – see list below for examples)

Horse-and-child-safe toys and games – the sturdier, the better! Bean bags, baskets, hula hoops, pool noodles, giant Jolly Balls, painted targets, traffic cones, giant barrels, and PVC poles are all items we use regularly.

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Paper Towels
Paper Cups (5-8 oz size)
(no toilet paper needed – it is provided with our porta-potty 🙂 )

We are always grateful for donations of paper goods, and paper cups (for kids who forget their water bottles) and paper towels are our most consistent needs. We appreciate any brand, and any amount!

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Carrots/Horse Treats
(5-lb bags & under, please, to avoid spoilage)

Many of our parents and younger siblings enjoy walking the property, simply visiting with the horses and feeding them carrots or treats. We also use carrots to deliver horse medication – and for delicious after-session treats for the horses!

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Apple Cider Vinegar

(gallon-sized or larger, please; any brand)

Almost all of our program horses receive 1/2 cup to 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in their grain daily to combat arthritis. We go through 3-4 gallons per week, so an extra gallon is always an appreciated donation!

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Beet Pulp
(shredded variety, please; no pellets)

YUM! Most of our program horses receive a feeding of soaked beet pulp every day to help with weight maintenance and digestion.  A donated bag (25-50 lbs) makes a big difference! Locally, we often buy this from Tractor Supply, but any brand of shredded beet pulp works!

SPRING/SUMMER NEED:
(We have plenty of fly masks for Summer 2026 – THANK YOU all for your generosity!!!)
Long-Nosed Fly Masks with Ears* (*XL/Warmblood Size Only)
Miniature Horse Fly Masks
Donkey Fly Mask

We do our best to make our fly masks last multiple seasons, but they usually need to be replaced every other year, as they wear out and develop holes. We’ve linked to the most durable ones in the right sizes for our herd (XL/Warmblood, XXSmall/Mini/Foal, and Donkey)! We currently have plenty of regular horse-sized fly masks – thank you!!!

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Rubbermaid Heavy Duty Wheelbarrows
(plastic, not metal, for safety)

We use wheelbarrows daily for all sorts of chores – cleaning stalls and pastures, raking up and collecting loose hay, delivering shavings, removing downed branches/sticks, etc. We are often in need of good condition, heavy duty wheelbarrows to replace ones that have cracked or worn out from use!

FALL/WINTER NEED:
Rubber Stall Mats

(for our Big Barn stalls, used for our most elderly horses)

Stall mats provide softer footing, cut stall cleaning time in half, and help keep stalls much drier in the Fall/Winter! We would love to be able to put full sets of mats in our Big Barn stalls to help our older horses who come inside during the rainy season!

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Road Base
(for our parking areas and emergency access road)

Over the years, donations of road base have helped us immensely in directing heavy rainwater away from our barns and parking areas! It prevents the farm from flooding in the winter and provides safe parking for our program families.

REGULARLY NEEDED:
Arena/Round Pen Sand/Footing

(for either of our two round pens or our arena)

Sand is a regular need for both our arena and both round pens, as footing compacts over time. THANK YOU for our last load of recycled rubber tire footing, which has helped with the drainage in our primary round pen!

SPECIAL REQUEST:
Folding Ping-Pong Table
(new or used)

For our families and kiddos who are too young for sessions to play with while their siblings ride! Also will be used for group visits and farm events.

SPECIAL REQUEST:
Metal or Wood Storage Shed

(new or used; must be 10×12 or under so we don’t have to permit it)

This shed will be used to store wood and other building repair supplies to keep them out of the rain and sun. To stay within County permitting allowances, any temporary sheds like this must be 10×12 or smaller, or we have to pay to permit them.

SPECIAL REQUEST:
Small Grain Silo Gazebo
(or a used grain silo so we can build one! must be 10-12 foot diameter or smaller)

Here’s an example of what we’d like to build or purchase! We only have room for a small one as a viewing and seating area for parents while they watch their kiddos ride, and it must be 12-foot diameter or less in order to fit under our County permitting requirements.

SPECIAL REQUEST:
9 Tarps
(10×12; for horse training and arena obstacle challenges)

We use tarps extensively in our program to work with the horses and teach the kids bravery and obstacle navigation, and wear-and-tear means that our tarps need occasional replacing! Our current arena tarps are feeling their age and we could use some new ones for the kids to ride over, around, and through!

Miscellaneous Temporary Farm Needs:

    • DG (decomposed granite) – This will further improve the footing/flooring/drainage in both our stalls and shelters.

    • A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE MCCONNELL FOUNDATION for a grant that allowed us to purchase and construct horse shelters for two of our unsheltered pastures!!!! Our horses LOVE the shade, wind, and rain protection!
    • THANK YOU SO MUCH REDDING RANCHERIA for a grant that allowed us to buy vaulting equipment so that we can start to teach a style of riding that encourages balance and connection… and sure is a TON of FUN!
    • Generator – THANK YOU, MCCONNELL FOUNDATION for a grant that allowed us to purchase and professionally install a new GENERATOR to run our electric fences and well pump during power outages! This is HUGE for our program and the safety of our horses during rolling fire safety blackouts in the summer, and also during events like Snowmaggeddon, when power is out for extended times.
    • Feeders and Water Tanks – THANK YOU REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND! – A recent grant allowed us to purchase 21 new feeders (to keep horses from ingesting sand, which is bad for their health) and 6 large heavy-duty water tanks (to cut down on algae growth and tank breakage) for our pastures! The horses are VERY grateful, and so are we!
    • THANK YOU to SO MANY OF YOU who have provided saddles, bridles, tack and equipment, and so many more in-kind donations than we can even list. We are so grateful for every donation, it means the world to us. YOU mean the world to us.Â
